The Department of Computer Science at Vassar College invites applications for a one-year position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2012-2013 academic year.

A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research is expected. The Ph.D. in Computer Science required. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in Software Design, Computer Organization, and Operating Systems.

Vassar is a highly selective, coeducational liberal arts college of about 2450 undergraduates (no graduate students) located in the beautiful and historic Hudson Valley seventy-five miles north of New York City. The city of Poughkeepsie benefits from convenient commuter rail access to New York City.

Vassar College has been successfully building a strong undergraduate program in Computer Science independent from the Math Department since 1963. Introductory courses are taught using Scheme and Java. The department maintains Linux laboratories for introductory and advanced instruction.
