Vassar faculty members are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, and in individually mentored projects. The department recently moved into newly renovated quarters within Vassar’s Integrated Science Commons. Introductory courses are taught using Scheme and Java.  The department maintains Linux laboratories for introductory and advanced instruction.  Enrollments have tripled over the past decade; we currently have over 120 majors, an active majors’ committee, and students and faculty regularly attending the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing and the Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing.
